Grouse
Feather Kennel is owned by Dr. Allen and Nancy Dunbar and is located
in Oconto, Wisconsin. Each of our stud dogs and brood matrons have
their own individual run. A fenced security area around the runs allows
our dogs to run, play and socialize. We also have two separate puppy
pens. Our rural location allows us to use five separate training fields
on our home grounds. These are planted with cover strips to optimize
bird work and ground race - whether it be quartering for our hunting
dogs or vertical for our field trial prospects.
Originally from New England, our dog history started in the classic
pa'tridge coverts. Since that time, expertise in training has been
refined through the association of professional trainers Dave Duffey,
George Hickox, Rick Smith, George Tracy, Ferrel Miller and others.
We are fortunate to have developed personal relationships with these
fine folks and credit our abilities to their methods. We are a professional
member of 'Team Huntsmith', often contributing veterinary and training
tips on their website.
Dr. Dunbar is also the owner of Packerland Veterinary Center in
Green Bay, Wisconsin, which is a large multidisciplinary small animal
general and referral hospital. Most of Dr. Dunbar's duties are surgical
with the majority of his patients having either sports related injuries
or other orthopedic problems. In addition to the 'standard memberships',
Allen is a member of the American Veterinary Sports Medicine Association
and the Veterinary Orthopedic Society. He is often asked to speak
on orthopedic topics to veterinarians both locally and on a national
level. Many of the patients he treats, are referred by other veterinarians
for his expertise and experience.
